Wigan Athletic Chairman Dave Whelan looks no nearer to finding a successor to Owen Coyle in the DW hotseat after Brentford FC confirmed on their Official Twitter page that Uwe Rosler has taken training this morning and will be in charge of their FA Cup clash against Carlisle.

Rosler, 45, has been given permission by Brentford to talk to the Latics Chairman who was hoping to thrash out a deal today ahead of the trip to South London tomorrow afternoon.  Whelan said “We have permission to talk and I will be meeting him and hope to get it done tomorrow”

Brentford Chief Exec Mark Devlin told local radio that the former Manchester City striker would be talking to Wigan today but it is unclear at this time whether those talks have taken place or not.

Rosler would become the first German Manager of the club.
