As we hit the top of the league with a rather convincing win over Southend on Saturday, Wigan Athletic now have two away trips to cement our position at the top.

Gillingham

First of all we make the Tuesday night trip down to Gillingham, coach bookings are still being taken for those that wish to go, it is pay on the night too, so anyone deciding last minute is safe to do so.

Recent results have gone with the home sides for both teams (except for an away victory for Latics in our Championship promotion season 2004), you have to look back to 1998 for the last time there was a draw and no goals being scored, Wigan Athletic v Gillingham History here.

The big but this time though, is we are at opposite ends of the table and the Gills have lost their manager in the last week, so hopefully we can take advantage of our momentum and Gillingham’s turmoil.

Blackpool

On Saturday we make the relatively short trip to the Fylde coast to play Blackpool for the second time this season. We have already notched up a victory in the Carabao Cup, though not much can be read into it due to both teams playing near enough reserve teams.

Blackpool are the self proclaimed entertainment capital, and once had aspirations of being the Casino Capital of Europe, until it was realised that people just go to Euro Palace progressive jackpots instead.

The football team however has seemed to settle in to this league now and unlike the off pitch situation, are looking good to push for one of the play off places.

Wigan’s last two visits to Bloomfield Road have recorded 4-0 and 3-1 wins and we hope with the massive Latic’s contingent, that we can add another positive result to that stat.

There are a few coach seats left for this game too, but be quick as they will probably be gone by Tuesday.

Plymouth
