It seems to have taken for ever, but it is now official – Wigan Athletic will finalise the deal for International Entertainment Corporation to buy controlling share of the Club.

At 6am this morning in Hong Kong, the shareholders at IEC met and voted to complete the deal which will more than likely be done before we travel to Middlesbrough next week.

The game at the DW Stadium on Sunday against Leeds United will probably be the last David Sharpe will be Chairman for, as he resigns along with the rest of the board on completion of the deal.

There will be a minutes silence ahead of the game in remembrance for those that fought in the Great War, but the Club are also asking fans to give a round of applause on 23 minutes for the Whelan family as their tenure comes to an end.

All at the Supporters Club wish David and his family all the best in the future and a big welcome to IEC.

Details of the Supporters Club Bar for the game will be along in due course.
